Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how WordStudy ("we", "us", or "the App"), operated by Daniil Pochukaev, a registered individual entrepreneur in the Republic of Armenia (TIN 20286989), collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use the WordStudy mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Data we collect

1.1 Information you provide

• Account information: email address and password (password is stored as a salted hash by our authentication provider; we never see plaintext passwords).
• Profile preferences: selected native language, UI language, learning preferences (daily goal, notification time, theme).
• Learning content: words you import, your progress on each word, collections you create, your test results.
• Optional links: if you connect a Telegram account for cross-device bot study, your Telegram user ID.
• Communications: messages you send to support@wordsstudy.com.

1.2 Information collected automatically

• Device data: device model, operating system version, app version, device locale, time zone.
• Push notification token: if you opt in to notifications, an opaque token issued by Apple Push Notification service (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
• Diagnostic data: crash logs and error reports (no personal content, only stack traces and timing).
• IP address: processed transiently by our backend providers for security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting. We do not store IP-derived geolocation profiles.

1.3 Information from purchases

• Subscription state: active plan (Monthly / Annual / Lifetime), entitlement expiry date, original purchase platform (Apple or Google). We do not receive your credit card number, billing address, or payment details — those stay with Apple or Google.
• Promotional code redemptions: if you redeem a promo code, we record the code and redemption time.

1.4 What we do NOT collect

• We do not collect precise location (GPS).
• We do not collect contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or health data.
• We do not use third-party advertising SDKs and do not show ads.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.

2. How we use your data

• Provide the Service: store your word list and progress, deliver translations, sync across devices.
• Authenticate you: log you in, recover your password, prevent unauthorized access.
• Communicate with you: send transactional emails (password reset, account confirmation), optional push notifications (daily reminders, subscription expiry warnings).
• Improve the Service: aggregate, anonymized usage to find bugs and prioritize features.
• Comply with law: respond to lawful requests from authorities, enforce our Terms.

3. Third parties we use (sub-processors)

We use the following service providers to operate the App. Each is bound by their own privacy policy and data processing agreement:

• Supabase Inc. (United States) — authentication, database, storage. supabase.com/privacy
• RevenueCat Inc. (United States) — subscription state management. revenuecat.com/privacy
• Apple Inc. — App Store purchases, push notifications via APNs. apple.com/legal/privacy
• Google LLC — Google Play purchases, FCM push notifications. policies.google.com/privacy
• Expo Inc. — application services for over-the-air updates and push delivery routing. expo.dev/privacy
• Resend Inc. — transactional email delivery (password reset, confirmations). resend.com/privacy
• Vercel Inc. — hosting for wordsstudy.com. vercel.com/privacy
• Telegram FZ-LLC — only if you link a Telegram account; bot interactions transit Telegram. telegram.org/privacy

4. International data transfers

Your data may be stored or processed in the United States and other countries where our sub-processors operate. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards where applicable.

5. How long we keep your data

• Account data: until you delete your account.
• Diagnostic logs: 30 days, then aggregated or deleted.
• Email logs (Resend): 30 days.
• Backups: rolling 7-day window after account deletion, then permanently purged.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR for EEA / UK residents, CCPA for California residents, similar laws elsewhere), you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data (most editable in-app).
• Delete your account and all associated data — use wordsstudy.com/delete-account or in-app: Profile → Settings → Delete account.
• Export your data in machine-readable format — email words.study.project@gmail.com.
• Withdraw consent for optional processing (e.g., turn off push notifications in device settings).
• Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

7. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at words.study.project@gmail.com and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use TLS encryption in transit, encrypted at-rest storage via Supabase, and salted password hashes. No system is perfectly secure; in the unlikely event of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by applicable law.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

The wordsstudy.com website uses only functional storage (your language preference). We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party trackers. The mobile app does not use cookies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be announced in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
