The Cat in the Tree

One morning, the people on a small street see a cat in a tree. It is a young cat. The tree is tall, and the cat cannot come down. It is afraid.

A man calls, "Come down, cat!" A woman shows it a toy. A boy shows it a ball. A dog runs around the tree. The cat does not move. It stays in the tree.

A little girl named Rosa lives next to the tree. She does not call the cat. She puts a bowl of fish by her open window, next to her bed. Then she sits down and waits. She is quiet.

A bird sings. A mouse runs in the garden. Rosa waits.

After an hour, the cat comes to the window. It eats the fish. Then it sleeps on Rosa's bed.

Sometimes we do not need to do a lot. We only need to wait.
